Unbelievable! We finally made it to NwN #10 and it was one of the most successful sessions to date. Everyone was able to use Ventrilo (although Andrew could only hear, not speak) and most people were on time (except Aaron). Upon our return to Ravenloft it was discovered that although the next segment of the adventure lay beneath Castle Forlorn, some members of the group (Rob and Ian) were not citizens of Forlorn. Forgetting everything we had learned previously we decided that Rob needed to sacrifice 100,000gp at the Water Chapel to get citizenship (it turned out later that this could have been as low as 1,000gp). We raided (again) the ancient city of Forlorn and gained citizenship for these two. Finally after about 2 hours of repeat, we were ready to proceed into the dungeons of Castle Forlorn. Remarkably, the party was able to stay together much better than in previous sessions. We encountered fairly minimal resistance for most of the night with a few level-ups. Some hilarity ensued when Gutboy was disarming a trap, which ‘Mitchel’ stumbled through and set off (nearly killing both with almost 100 points of electrical damage). Gutboy retaliated for much of the night by deliberately setting off traps. Finally we came to the witch’s chamber where there were two sarcophagi; Ian (the Fighter/Mage whose name will have to be added in a comment) let his familiar bash this to pieces resulting in the inevitable point of evil for Sir William. How long before he walks the path of the blackguard? Anyhow, several overpowered items were taken and given to Sir William.
After this, we wasted no time in actually talking to the witch, preferring instead to launch an alpha strike consisting of Sir William whacking her upside the head while several people brought out the ol’ Searing Light. She died nearly instantly. A moment later while we gloated, a “Harrow Demon” appeared from nowhere and began rudely slaying the party. This particular beast had three bad characteristics: regeneration, permanent darkness in a wide radius, and spell resistance which was apparently invulnerable to all of our magic. Several members of the party including both NPCs were slain during our ill-fated retreat from the chamber. Fortunately for us, the demon could not pass beyond the doorway and was trapped inside. Unfortunately, this was between us and our dead NPCs who would die immediately when re-raised.
After a long period of debate and wandering the rest of the dungeon, a plan was formed whereby Sir William (recipient of the overpowered gear of doom) would be boosted with every clerical and mage spell of a level we could cast and sent to battle the evil demon. The rest of us would run around causing distraction, shooting the odd arrow or bolt, and healing the NPCs as frequently as possible. Amazingly, the plan worked, as Sir William was soon accompanied by Ellefrin the NPC Sith Lord, Cloaked One threw in some blessings and prayers and healing, and Gutboy and Ian’s oddly named fighter/mage even ran in to take their shots. ‘Mitchel’ raised the hapless NPC cleric and eventually the evil demon was defeated, ending the accursed darkness. Due to an apparent glitch in the module, the witch had returned to life and the overpowered gear had regenerated. ‘Mitchel’ stole the cheesy duplicated gear while the rest of the party mocked him. We chose discretion over valor and left the duplicate witch unmolested. As it was now very late, the party returned to Infal’s tower and the comfort of many stores before retiring for the night. We have no idea what to do next other than return to Barovia.
The “buffing” term was born this night. Referring to the Bless, Bull’s Strength, etc. that was placed on me. I saw a record number of enchantment icons across the top of the screen (15). There was only room for 2 more before a needing second line.
Did we talk to the new witch?
The best session yet. Next time we just need Dan, and to get Andrew a microphone.

‘Mitchel’ thoughtfully spoke with the new witch. By the way I also forgot to mention our one misstep, in which we attempted to attack Lord Mard’alloy even though he warned us he was invincible. Not only is he immortal but it turns out he is level 48 with a bunch of +10 equipment and special powers. We were slain instantly, but wisely had chosen to save the game before attacking.

+10 equipment! Let’s kill that guy!
Oh, and my character’s name is “Aerissa” and her hellhound’s name is “Lerix,” though I am considering a name change for him when next I level up – maybe “Scooby” or “Marmaduke.”
