This session continued the party’s somewhat Monty Haul-like, hack-n-slash adventure in Ravenloft. The group was joined by the mysterious ‘Mitchel’ who somehow has quotation marks in his proper name. In any case, we also picked up an undead elven female to go with an often-killed cleric. We supplemented these with frequent conjurings of a zombie and an earth elemental (or dire wolf or shadow), bringing the party to a jun horde-like count of 8 players. Unfortunately the party had great organizational troubles and it is difficult to recount the full events that took place. The group entered Barovia, penetrated the toxic ring of mist surrounding the castle, and obtained an antidote which lets the party move freely in and out of this death zone. The group finished off one of the witches it was hunting as well as her vampire pals. In a combat with a Frost Giant King and Queen the entire group was slain except for ‘Mitchell’ and the elven undead fighter, known colloquially as the “Sith lord” due to her dual wielded glowing swords. Turns out she is quite the pro at killing and was the only one not to die on the night. A number of crashes also marred the festivities. Aaron had fixed his microphone and we chatted away, except for Andrew on his stone age dial-up. Also, Cloaked One snagged a Black Opal with more powers than you can shake a stick at. All in all a good night and most of the party leveled up to level 10.

The Jun Horde made it difficult in combat to select an enemy, especially when we ran into Shadow Wolves with their Darkness aura. The Earth Elemental thumping around, coupled with the Sith Lord’s ever-present red, glowing, dual swords, and the original NPC, which I am dubbing “Ever Die”.
This was my first session with a working microphone. Now that I am on the other end it is so much better not having to type messages, and I often forgot Andrew could not even hear us.
I hope Dan returns to play in Ravenloft, because he was the GM for all our in-person gaming. It feels odd to think of Ravenloft without thinking of Mooney.
One more note, Rob may or may not have ran into a bar and killed a quest dude, which brought the night to an end.

I most certainly did not “run into a bar and kill a quest dude”. What actually happened was, while in town (with the rest of the party taking entireley too long exploring this town with a mere 4 map points), I decided it was about time that everybody’s favorite overweight stealth machine threw around a little bit of pickpocketing. Now, the Gut’s pickpocket skill is maxed, and if we were in a reasonable town with level appropriate NPCs, it shouldn’t have been a problem scamming the chumps for a bit of spare change. However, this pack of zero-eth level Gypsies seemed to have an inordinateley high spot skill and, along with counting the number of hairs protruding from Gutboy’s nose (a lot, they easily spotted his otherwise masterful pickpocket attempt. This caused half the bar to suddenly go hostile and attack. Luckily for our hero, they were easily dispatched by the swift application of Gutboy awesomeness. Unfortunateley, however, it appears that a certain side-plot-critical NPC was squashed in the melee. Can’t break an omletee…
My point is that our current situation is the fault of the module designer himself! Whoever created this funnelation festival clearly disapproved of rogues in general and pickpocketing in particular! I refuse to be held responsible for the prejudices of some seventeen year old shut in whose got nothing better to do than make Ravenloft modules tailored toward some gay-ass tortured paladin concept than we are all just sick to fracking death of! Join the battle against DM plot funneling! Attica! Attica! Free Gutboy!

Do not forget the incredibly smelly Tyrantfog Zombie in the mix.
